How we score

Every number on this site comes from one of three places: the maker's own pages (specs), three golf retailers' stores (prices), and public posts by owners (scores). We do not test units ourselves and we do not sell placement.

Specs

We read each maker's product, spec and support pages and record every value with the link we read it on and the date. If a maker does not publish a figure, we leave it blank rather than estimate it. Room depth is the maker's own minimum room depth when given; otherwise it is the two distances the maker publishes added together (unit behind the ball plus ball to screen).

Prices

Prices and stock come from the public stores of Rain or Shine Golf, Shop Indoor Golf and Top Shelf Golf, last read Oct 13, 2026. Bundles, used units and accessories are left out of a launch monitor's price.

Owner scores

We collected 32,227 public posts from YouTube comments (official YouTube API), Golf Simulator Forum and The Sand Trap, up to Oct 14, 2026. A language model reads each post that names a launch monitor and answers fixed questions: which model it is about, whether the writer owns it and reports their own use, how they feel about it on a five-step scale from very negative to very positive, and which topics it covers (accuracy, room fit, subscription and so on).

That gave 9,053 opinions on 50 models, of which 3,861 are owner reviews. A model's owner score is the average of its owner reviews on a 0 to 100 scale. We show a score only when a model has at least 10 owner reviews; below that we show the count.

The model makes mistakes, and older forum threads weigh on models that have been out for years. Read the quotes: each links to the original post. The writers are owners posting elsewhere, not reviewers for this site.

Rankings

Lists are ordered by owner score, then by number of owner reviews. Retailer commissions never change the order.
